Description:
The BYD Atto 3 Evo is a heavily re-engineered version of the Atto 3, BYD’s first global electric SUV, switching from front-wheel drive to rear- or all-wheel drive. It arrived in the UK and Europe in spring 2026 with a larger battery, much faster charging, a front trunk (frunk) and Google built-in infotainment. BYD doesn’t sell passenger cars in Canada yet, so the specs below are for the European and UK versions.
Range, Battery, and Charging of the BYD Atto 3 Evo:
- Range is rated at 510 km on the WLTP cycle for the rear-wheel-drive Design and 470 km for the all-wheel-drive Excellence.
- Both use a 74.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade battery built into the body structure (Cell-to-Body).
- DC fast charging peaks at 220 kW, and a charge from 10% to 80% takes about 25 minutes, a big step up on the original Atto 3.
- BYD quotes a full AC charge in 8 hours on 11 kW three-phase power, which Canadian homes don’t have, so a typical Level 2 home charger would take longer.
- A heat pump is standard, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) can power devices at up to 3.3 kW.
Powertrain and Performance of the BYD Atto 3 Evo:
- The rear-wheel-drive Design makes 230 kW and 380 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds with a 180 km/h top speed.
- The dual-motor Excellence makes 330 kW and 560 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds with a 200 km/h top speed, which is more power than the chassis needs.
- The suspension is soft and the ride unsettled at higher speeds, with heavy steering and little driver engagement.
- Braked towing capacity is up to 1,500 kg.
Technology and Features of the BYD Atto 3 Evo:
- A large central touchscreen runs Google built-in infotainment.
- A 360-degree camera is standard on UK cars.
- Heated electric front seats and a cooled wireless phone charger are also standard in the UK.
