Kia’s electric lineup

Most Kia EVs are crossovers or SUVs, so you’ll find them on our electric SUV hub too.

Compact: EV3, EV4 and EV5

The Kia EV3 is the smallest Kia EV, a compact crossover rated at 356 to 517 km depending on battery. It offers a 58.3 or 81.4 kWh pack, and the larger one is the version to pick if you regularly drive between cities. The Kia EV4 shares its battery sizes but comes as a sedan in Canada, rated at up to 552 km, the highest of any Kia. The Kia EV5 is a boxier five-seat crossover with up to 457 km; check its model page for which versions are available yet.

Midsize and large: EV6, Niro EV and EV9

The Kia EV6 is a sporty crossover with a 63 or 84 kWh battery and 381 to 513 km of range, depending on the battery and whether it drives two or four wheels. The Kia Niro EV keeps things simple, with one 64.8 kWh battery and 407 km on every trim. For families, the Kia EV9 has three rows and seats seven, or six on trims with second-row captain’s chairs, with a range of 370 to 491 km. It comes with a 76.1 or 99.8 kWh battery, and the 99.8 kWh pack is the largest Kia offers, which also means longer stops on a home charger. These are the ranges listed on the model pages, and cold weather will cut into all of them.

Choosing between them

Start with seats and body style. The EV3, EV5 and Niro EV suit small households and city parking, the EV4 suits drivers who want a sedan, and the EV6 sits between compact and family size. The EV9 is the only Kia EV with a third row. Then match range to your longest regular drive, leaving room for winter. Each card in the grid shows range and price, and the model page lists every trim. Charging a Kia

Most owners charge at home overnight on Level 2. On the model pages, a full Level 2 charge takes about 2 hours for the Sportage PHEV and just under 4 hours for the Sorento PHEV. The EVs take longer: about 7.5 hours for the Niro EV, 6 to 9 hours for the EV6 and 8 to 11 hours for the EV9. For DC fast charging, the charging port and the networks you can use depend on the model and version, so check the model page first; our guide to EV plug types explains the connectors. Our guide to home charging covers chargers and installation.

Kia Questions

Which Kia EV has the longest range?

The EV4 sedan, rated at up to 552 km in its Wind FWD version. Battery and drive matter as much as the model: the EV3 with the 81.4 kWh battery is rated at 517 km with front-wheel drive but 451 km with AWD, and the EV6 drops from 513 km (Wind RWD) to 435 km for the Land AWD with the Premium or GT-Line package. In CAA’s EV Winter Test, the EV9 drove 20% less than its official range and the Niro EV 30% less.

Does Kia make a seven-seat EV?

Yes, the EV9, which seats seven, or six with second-row captain’s chairs. Its range runs from 370 km for the Light RWD with the 76.1 kWh battery to 491 km for the Wind RWD with the 99.8 kWh battery, and AWD versions are rated to tow up to 2,268 kg. For a three-row plug-in hybrid, there’s the Sorento PHEV.

How long does a Kia EV take to charge, and can it use Tesla Superchargers?

A full Level 2 charge takes about 5 to 11 hours depending on model and battery, and the model pages list DC fast-charge sessions from about 20 minutes (EV6) to 43 minutes (Niro EV). Kia Canada says the 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9 are its first models with a built-in NACS port for Tesla Superchargers, and adapters are offered for earlier EV6, EV9 and Niro EV models. You need the Tesla app to charge there.

What warranty do Kia EVs have in Canada?

Kia Canada covers the powertrain for 5 years or 100,000 km and the high-voltage battery for 8 years or 160,000 km against its capacity falling below 70%. Comprehensive coverage runs 5 years or 100,000 km, and EV system components are covered for 8 years or 150,000 km. Each term ends at whichever limit comes first, except roadside assistance, which runs 5 years with unlimited kilometres.

Do Kia EVs qualify for the EVAP rebate?

Many trims can. EVAP pays up to $5,000 on an eligible new EV and $2,500 on a plug-in hybrid in 2026, if the vehicle is made in Canada or a free-trade-agreement country and, unless it’s made in Canada, its final transaction value is $50,000 or less. The EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 and Niro EV all start under $50,000, but options and dealer fees count toward the cap, so check Transport Canada’s list for your trim and our EV rebates guide for provincial rebates.
